Studio Sessions Project

Tricia is currently holding studio sessions at Headwaters Dance Studio in Missoula. The group is practicing the Six Viewpoints and other dance improvisation forms. This project's purpose is to develop performance work. Participating artists include: Lulu Delphine, Holly Biehl, Heidi Junkersfeld, Ariel Brand, Noelle Huser, Kate Morris and Mason Wagner. Participating musicians include: Naomi Seigel, Bill Kautz, Justin Matousek, Michael Musick, William Saylor and Lauren Tyler Norby.

FreeSessions

Tricia curated and presented 'Bubbla', a short dance improvisation piece using Mary Overlie's Six Viewpoints at FreeSessions. 'Bubbla' is a self-originated somatic search engine asking 'How to' questions from the body, such as, 'How to Delicious', 'How to Translucent', 'How to Ghost' or 'How to Blubber'.

Go Go Dancing with Beauts Band


Chris Sand hosted Calvin Johnson at The Roxy Theater and Sand's band, Beauts, played Johnson covers to open up the evening. Tricia Opstad and Holly Biehl provided 'Go Go' dancing alongside the Beauts band to the tunes of 'I Spy', 'Teenage Caveman' and 'Angel Gone'. Members of Beauts band include: Chris Sand, Bente Grinde, Drew and Drew.

 'Frame, I'm Gonna Live 4Ever' is a performance piece choreographed for VonCommon Art Studio's '911' art show in September 2015. 'Frame...' investigates the power of frames used in various media settings that dictate information available to its audience and information that is seen outside the frame.

Leg Oh Leg


'Leg Oh Leg' is a homage performance piece choreographed to revel in and embrace leg volume and strength during leg movement investigations accompanied by a musical score of "Legs" by ZZ Top. Designed and performed in conjunction with Brink Art Gallery's April 2015 show.

Raw Raw Well Done


'Raw Raw Well Done Extra Extra' is a collaborative evening length performance directed by Tricia Opstad to look at different ways of telling the news and selecting new news to share with audiences. Caroline Keys, singer songwriter, interviews a comet, Kelly Bouma, theatre artist, provides a weather update through improvised dance, Lauren Tyler Norby, artist/musician, and Caitlin Hofmeister, writer, are caught on camera showing a love quarrel, Laurel Sears, dancer, brings you an investigative reporting journalist's Moonage Daydream with dancing to the music of David Bowie.
